Natural Material, Turing Machine and the Emperor’s New Brain (part)

The series of ‘Natural Material’, as its name suggests, has a strong feature of ‘OBJECTS’ . From the perspective of the plane composition in early abstract paintings by Mondrian, Malevich and others, ‘Natural Material’ also has the basic elements of early modernism in the 20th century. It can be seen as a painting - especially a modernist painting. At the same time, we can also say that this series of works is far from paintings in a certain way, but closer to the object - or consciousness and concepts themselves presented by the objetct.
In the series of ‘Natural Material’, Sun Ce wanted to build a game about consciousness rather than an imitation based on image and visible nature. In Creation Generative Theory, ‘Natural Material’ mainly uses the basic material in Modernist Paintings - linen that makes up the canvas. Linen squares of different sizes, proportions, thicknesses and colors, used as the base of the paintings and the elements that make up the picture. Instead of the ‘brushstrokes’ in traditional painting, it becomes the ‘brushstrokes’ itself. These ‘squares’, the dyed linen directly constitute the visual elements and logical units of the paintings. If we observe Sun Ce's methodology and process in the creation of these works, we will find that these works have very different thinking logic and aesthetic tendencies from Western modernist abstract paintings. These paintings show a highly condensed artistic vocabulary based on ‘object’ and ‘thought’, which is separated from the language system of the real world.
